Reiki: Transmissions of Light: The History and System of Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho (Vol 1)
The book is focused primarily on Usui Shiki Reiki Ryōhō, the system as it was taught by Hawayo Takata. It contains scans of letters handwritten by Takata, detailed historical analyses, and interviews and notes from her students. One of the central themes in the book is that Reiki is the teacher.

“Robert Fueston has produced an important and scholarly book about the life’s work of Hawayo Takata and the Reiki Masters she trained. The research is impeccable, and Robert has uncovered some new and valuable information about the movement of Reiki from Japan to the Western world, and how it evolved. I found it to be absorbing, and reading it gave me new understanding of how Reiki expanded and adapted since Mrs. Takata’s time. If you wish to learn more about Reiki and how it got where it is today, this is a highly recommended book. It is also a tribute to a great teacher and the power of one person to change the world. Thanks to Robert for his diligence and persistence during his 10 years of research, and the way he honours the Reiki tradition. This is one of a few books on Reiki I can highly recommend.”

“There has been research done and histories written regarding Reiki relating to its Founders and how this marvelous path of healing evolved. This particular book, written by Robert Fueston, is a unique modern history done by a trained researcher and Reiki Master. Mr. Fueston has not only new details to offer, but considers deeply this remarkable work and way of living in this modern world in which we live. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, especially from the vantage point of having practiced and taught it for more than 30 years in many different countries in the world.”

“To better understand the healing art of Reiki Ryoho it is necessary, I believe, to know about its history and historical context. This book by Robert Fueston, with is in-depth research, serves as a useful and important source of information about Usui Sensei, the founder of Usui Reiki Ryoho; Hayashi Sensei, who planted a Reiki Ryoho seed outside Japan; and Mrs. Hawayo Takata, the parent of so-called “Western Reiki” systems. This is a must-read book for all Reiki practitioners, as the book definitely helps them to more deeply understand their practice of Reiki Ryoho. This invaluable work of the author is very highly appreciated.”
